Doctors’ Union warns ITU and medical wards may not be able to handle influx

The Medical Association of Malta (MAM) has expressed concerns over the increasing daily COVID-19 numbers after carnival weekend, warning that Mater Dei’s ITU and medical wards may soon experience an influx of patients.

The Union went on to state that the imposed health measures for the carnival period have proven their inadequacy through the recent increase in numbers.

The MAM encouraged the government and health authorities to take more adequate measures and reiterated the importance of avoiding social activities for the elderly aged between 60 and 80 above others.

Chris Cardona implicated in Caruana Galizia assassination plans

The Times of Malta have revealed that former minister and Labour Party Deputy Leader Chris Cardona has been implicated in the 2015 plot to murder journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia and also linked to the alleged hitmen involved.

Cardona denied these claims, calling them ‘pure evil fiction’ while Nationalist Party leader Bernard Grech called the news ‘shocking’ and stated that there are far more investigations to be conducted.

The claims were made by Vince Muscat, otherwise known as il-Koħħu, has been sentenced 15 years in prison for admission to his part in the 2017 Caruana Galizia assassination.

David Attenborough says it’s too late to reverse climate change damages

After the United Nations warned that humanity has potentially made Earth an uninhabitable planet, natural historian and presenter David Attenborough layered a warning of his own.

Now 94 years old, Attenborough has seen the Earth’s climate and natural situation worsen, but despite his warning, he says that wealthy countries can still put in the work in hopes of remedying the problem.

Climate change should be a situation that unites all people together, he said as the UN’s COP26climate summit looms closer. This is, according to Attenborough, our last opportunity to change.
