Doctors raise concerns about slow rollout of COVID-19 vaccine

Jan 3 2021 Share

With around 1,400 Maltese citizens having been vaccinated during the first week of the vaccine rollout and weekly vaccinations anticipated to increase to as much as 2,000 weekly, authorities plan on Malta having ‘herd immunity’ towards the beginning of summer.

In a recent Twitter post, Health Minister Chris Fearne shared an infographic of countries’ vaccine doses per 100, placing Malta towards the top of the table yet, while seemingly being ‘on target’ President of Medical Association of Malta (MAM) shared his worrying two cents.

He lamented the fact that if the plan was to achieve herd immunity by May, our efforts are still lacking and pointed out that more effort is to be made to administer the vaccines more efficiently.

Jan 2 2021 Share

Yes, you read that right. In an exclusive piece reported by TVMSport, it appears that Hamrun Spartans FC may be in talks with three high-profile football stars.

After the go-ahead from new Hamrun boss Joseph Portelli, the club may be looking at signing one of three high-profile players being Mario Balotelli, Alexandre Pato and Yayo Sanogo, with a line of communication already being created with Balotelli’s agent Mino Raiola. Balotelli is currently under contract with Silvio Berlusconi’s AC Monza until June 2021 – Hamrun could be a possibility thereafter.

Alexandre Pato may be the most likely to join after he had reached an agreement to terminate his contract with Sao Paolo back in August 2020 but only time will tell what the future holds for the Spartans.
