Designer Canyaon, renowned for his innovative upcycling projects, has taken footwear design to a new level with his latest creation: the “Toes Slippers.”
Known for transforming 20 recycled caps into sneakers and adding plastic “boulders” to MSCHF’s Super Normal silhouette, Canyaon’s work often pushes the boundaries of conventional design.
The “Toes Slippers” are a quirky alteration of the YEEZY Slide, modified to resemble an enormous big toe. Featuring a full-colour “toenail” over the slide’s front opening, these slippers boast a bulky, cartoonish appearance that teeters on the edge of the grotesque. This design is reminiscent of Gaetano Pesce’s Il Piede and Imran Potato’s Caveman Slippers, offering a playful yet bizarre twist on typical footwear.
Despite the viral attention, the “Toes Slippers” remain a design concept with no current plans for production or release. For those seeking less extravagant options, the market offers various summertime mules, such as Nike’s Clogposite and the backless Beatnik by NEEDLES and Reebok.
Canyaon’s latest creation underscores his reputation for bold and unconventional designs, capturing the imagination of fashion enthusiasts with his whimsical approach to upcycled footwear.
