The Delicata winery, Malta’s most awarded winemaker, has achieved a prestigious accolade at the 2024 Muscats du Monde wine competition in France. Their new Maltese wine, Moscato Perlato, secured a silver medal, showcasing the exceptional quality of Maltese winemaking on an international stage.
The Muscats du Monde contest, now in its 24th year and organized by Forum Oenologie, is the premier global wine tasting competition dedicated to the Muscat or Moscato grape variety. Held on July 11 in the renowned Burgundy region of France, this year’s competition featured 145 wine samples from 15 countries, all meticulously evaluated by a panel of 55 expert judges. Moscato Perlato was the only Maltese wine to win a medal.
Moscato Perlato, Wine of Malta, is a naturally sweet wine with a moderate alcohol content of 4.5% vol. It features a delicate perlage of tiny bubbles that enhance the wine’s fruity and grapey aromas and flavors, offering a unique tasting experience.
The award-winning 2023 Moscato Perlato vintage marks the inaugural release of this new Delicata wine. It is produced in a limited quantity, with each bottle individually numbered. Only the finest Moscato grapes from the 2023 harvest, hand-picked from select vineyard parcels in Malta, were used in its production.
This silver medal follows closely behind two bronze medals that Delicata recently won at the Decanter World Wine Awards, further cementing the winery’s reputation for excellence.
As Malta’s foremost, fourth-generation family-run winery, Delicata has now amassed an impressive total of 146 international awards, continuing to set the standard for Maltese wines on the world stage.
