Deceased person found in Paradise Bay, Cirkewwa

Police revealed that a body was spotted in the area of Paradise Bay, Ċirkewwa this morning at around 0845hrs. 

Police intervened immediately on site wherein they found the body of a person far into the decomposition stage. Civil Protection members also convened on site to retrieve the body. 

Autopsies carried out on the corpse are yet to establish the identity of the person as well as the cause of death. The body was found wearing a red pair of shorts. 

An inquiry has been opened and investigations are ongoing.

This morning: Four injured in 3 separate accidents

This morning, 3 separate accidents resulted in 4 people needing treatment at Mater Dei after suffering grievous injuries.

The first accident happened at 6:45am in Mellieħa. A 26-year-old man residing in Rabat, Gozo crashed his car into a pole. A 25-year-old man and a 30-year-old from Gozo were passengers in the same car. The driver and one of the passengers were rushed to hospital and later certified to have suffered grievous injuries.

Approximately 2 hours later, another man suffered injuries after being involved in an accident in St. Pauls Bay. The 27 year-old, was riding a Peugeot Speedfight motorcycle and for an unknown reason crashed into a Toyota Hilux being driven by a 66 year-old man.

In a separate accident, that happened at 10:00am, in Birkirkara, a 65 year-old woman was hit by a 24-year-old man driving a Renault Captur. The woman was rushed to hospital and was certified to have suffered grievous injuries.

The police are still investigating all 3 accidents.

Andre Baldacchino, otherwise known as D-Rey dropped a host of bass-heavy bangers at the Spinnin’ Sessions stage at World Club Dome in Dusseldorf, Germany, joining a roster of world-renowned DJs including Sevek, Pajane and Burak Yeter, amongst others.

This year, World Club Dome’s Winter Edition at the Merkur Spiel-Arena hosted a star-studded roster of international DJs including Don Diablo, James HYPE, Robin Schulz and Timmy Trumpet, to name a few.

150 abandoned cats will have a new home in Ghammieri

The Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Animal Rights Anton Refalo, together with the Junior Minister Alicia Bugeja Said inaugurated a new sanctuary for abandoned cats in the Għammieri area, worth an investment of €150,000.

During a news conference, the Director for Animal Protection Patricia Azzopardi explained that this sanctuary can hold up to 150 cats. These cats are often abandoned, injured or rescued from the streets, are are brought to the sanctuary thanks to Animal Welfare Department officers.

In this newly inaugurated sanctuary there will be a special area for the isolation of sick cats.

In the coming days the process of transferring all cats from the old area, into the new area, will continue. This will happen after inspections by the veterinarians of the Directorate, to ensure that cats are in good health and able to mix with other cats in the new sanctuary.
