One year into his mandate, Maltese MEP Daniel Attard is celebrating the success of his Youth Programme in the European Parliament.
In its first year alone, 24 young people from Malta and Gozo were given the unique opportunity to spend a week in Brussels, gaining first-hand insight into the daily work of an MEP.
Launched in collaboration with the Socialists and Democrats Group and student organisation Pulse, the programme offers an engaging and practical experience, placing young people at the heart of European politics.
Participants are encouraged to share their views and ideas on key topics such as transport, tourism, energy, technology, and regional development.
More than just a visit, the programme allows participants to closely follow Daniel Attard’s work, giving them a genuine understanding of the European legislative process.
“This is an opportunity I never had, and that’s exactly why I wanted to create it for others,” said Dr Attard. “Politics needs to be authentic. Beyond social media, this programme truly puts young people at the centre of our work.”
The programme has already helped participants gain confidence, build networks, and better understand how EU decisions impact everyday life — and this is just the beginning, with more opportunities planned in the months ahead.
