78 Year Old Woman At Risk Of Dying After Crash Into Truck

78 YEAR OLD WOMAN AT RISK OF DYING AFTER CRASHING INTO TRUCK IN NAXXAR

Today, at around 1045hrs, police were informed of a traffic accident which took place in Triq il-Germanja, Naxxar.

Police convened immediately on site and preliminary investigations showed that a 78 year old woman resident of Naxxar, lost control of her Toyota Vitz and crashed into a parked truck.

The victim was given preliminary medical aid and taken to Mater Dei Hospital, where she was certified as having suffered serious injuries.

Civil protection members also convened on site to assist.

Earlier on, police were informed that a 44 year old woman resident of Hal Balzan at around 0815hrs was taken to Mater Dei due to a traffic accident on Triq il-Kannizzata, Hal-Balzan.

Preliminary investigations showed that she had been hit by a Mazda Demio, which was being driven by a 23 year old woman resident of H’Attard.

She was given medical aid and was certified as having suffered grievous injuries.

Investigations are ongoing regarding both accidents.

Local iron man and triathlete Fabio Spiteri won the Unsung Animal Warrior Award for his dedication to raising funds and awareness for abandoned animals.

Fabio does all this through his passion for extreme sports and ‘his commitment exemplifies the spirit of selflessness and determination that these awards seek to honour.’

The runner up in the category was Angelique Lofaro, recognised for her work rescuing and rehabilitating wildlife as part of Nature Trust Malta.

Meanwhile, The Vuci Ghall-Annimali Award was awarded to the Association for Abandoned Animals, who are continuously pushing for animal welfare and run a nationwide neutering campaign.

BirdLife Malta was named runner-up of this category, honouring their bird conservation efforts.

Malta Public Transport Launching 8th Edition Of ‘Tallinja Għal L-Istrina’

Malta Public Transport is launching the eighth edition of ‘Tallinja ghal L-Istrina’ on Saturday, 21st December 2024, in collaboration with the Office of the President. This annual fundraising event supports the Malta Community Chest Fund Foundation (MCCFF).

H.E. President Myriam Spiteri Debono expressed her gratitude for the initiative, highlighting its significance as part of a broader series of efforts benefiting L-Istrina, ensuring that the collected funds aid those in need.

Malta Public Transport’s Chairman, Felipe Cosmen, stated how using their services on the 21st of December is “an easy way to make a difference this holiday season” and he is encouraging everyone to help raise funds for L-Istrina by doing so.

The more people traveling by bus on the day, the more funds will be raised to support this cause. Every journey taken by passengers on the day, including those using the free transport scheme, will be contributing to a donation to the MCCFF.

Malta Public Transport has raised over €284,000 to the MCCFF through this initiative which they’ve been doing every year since 2016.
