The COVID daily update on Facebook by the health authorities was delayed on Monday as Robert Abela was being sworn in as Prime Minister.
Times of Malta was informed by a health ministry spokesperson that she was off duty as the government has not yet been formed. The spokesperson told the reporter that her role was political and cabinet has not yet been formed.
Superintendent for Public Health Charmaine Gauci also informed Times of Malta, saying that she has checked with the ministry to look into the delay. According to an online data registry, 360 new COVID-19 cases were registered on Monday.
Three new deaths were also recorded but no further details were given. This means there could be around 4,276 active cases on the island.
