Cristiano Ronaldo has just become the first person to reach a total of 500 million followers across Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

Ronaldo, the Juventus superstar has become one of the most famous footballers of all time.

Instagram is thought to have around 1 billion users, which means that the football icon has about 15% of the platform’s users as followers.

154 COVID-19 cases registered overnight with 206 recoveries

Malta has registered 154 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours from 2,639 swab tests, while 206 patients have recovered. This information was announced by the official Facebook page of Malta’s Ministry for Health.

As of Friday 22th February 2021, 48,474 vaccine doses were administered.

To date, Malta has registered 19,651 COVID-19 cases in total, of which: 17,017 have recovered, 290 died and 2,344 are still active.

Inequality between the sexes during a pandemic

The National Commission for the promotion of equality has shed light on the harsh realities brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Between the months of June and July last year, the number of women who spend 13 hours or more a day taking care of their children had doubled.

63% of women care for their children during the day while 60.7% were men. When it came to increased hours of housework women come in at 58.4% while met stand at 55.2%.

Increased hours spent helping children with school work showed a 16% difference between men and women, with women being in the higher percentile.

COVID-19 infections reduced by nearly 50% worldwide

The number of new worldwide COVID-19 infections has dropped by nearly half. New infection rates have been slowing, and over the past month, the number of new cases has dropped by 44.5%.

New cases during the week of the 5th-11th of January stood at – 743,000 while last week the number stood at 412,700 which was the lowest value since last October.

Although numbers are decreasing everyone must still exercise caution and social distancing in order to keep the numbers at a decline.
