COVID Alert Malta was the country’s most downloaded application

From statistics published by servizz.gov regarding government public services, it was revealed that COVID Alert Malta was the most download application in maltapps, with 4,259 download out of a total 11,408.

The same data revealed that during the first quarter of 2021, over 59,000 visits to servizz.gov’s 21 regional centres and 2 technical centres.

It was also revealed that during the months of January, February and March, Freephone 153 answered a total of 232,106 phone calls with regards to social security questions while 9,054 emails were sent to the same service.

Lil Nas X dropped a new track last night and the internet can’t handle it

Prolific rapper and artist Lil Nas X has taken over the internet once again after dropping his new track ‘Sun Goes Down’ and people are going wild over how sad it is.

The follow-up to the controversial ‘Montero (Call Me By Your Name)’ takes the form of a sombre ballad concerning issues of identity, sexuality and loneliness but yet, it remains melodic and catchy as many have come to expect from the artist.

The music video shows a young Lil Nas X facing typical adolescent problems of fitting in and feeling left out before he actually comes to grips with his identity, loves who is and dances all night.

Three investigated & none charged over abortion in past 5 years

Three people were investigated while none faced criminal charges related to abortion in Malta in the past five years, with three women having been convicted for having an abortion since 2000, according to the Times of Malta.

Discussion on such topic took over the Maltese Islands since MP Marlene Farrugia presented a parliamentary bill proposing abortion decriminalisation as the act itself, the curating of it as well as the medical procedure remain a crime punishable up to three years in prison.

Approximately 400 Maltese women travel beyond our shores to have an abortion while another 200 buy abortion pills online every year.

Adolescents aged 12 to 15 to be vaccinated before scholastic year

During Friday’s COVID-19 press briefing, Superintendent for Public Health Professor Charmaine Gauci revealed that adolescents aged between 12 and 15 years old will be vaccinated before the start of the next scholastic year in September.

Professor Gauci highlighted that the Pfizer vaccine will be given after passing clinical trials by the US Centres fo Disease Control (CDC) and the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as she waits approval from the European Medicines Agency (EMA) before implementation.

The 12-to-15 age bracket will be the next cohort to be vaccinated, with the over-16s being the most recent group eligible for vaccination after applications opened last Monday.
