COVID-19 infections reduced by nearly 50% worldwide

The number of new worldwide COVID-19 infections has dropped by nearly half. New infection rates have been slowing, and over the past month, the number of new cases has dropped by 44.5%.

New cases during the week of the 5th-11th of January stood at – 743,000 while last week the number stood at 412,700 which was the lowest value since last October.

Although numbers are decreasing everyone must still exercise caution and social distancing in order to keep the numbers at a decline.

Vulnerable people have started to be vaccinated against COVID-19

Vulnerable people have started to be vaccinated for COVID-19 as of last Thursday.

The number of vulnerable people who are to be vaccinated stands at 25,000.

Vulnerable people are being vaccinated at Mater Dei. Mater Dei has started vaccinating 60 people a day and the number will continue to increase gradually.

Siberian freezing winds to hit Malta on Valentine’s day

Following a record-breaking highest temperature recorded for January, This week temperatures are going to drop significantly, bringing about low temperatures that will persist until next week.

Temperatures are forecasted to plummet this weekend as a Siberian cold front reaches the Maltese islands.

Temperatures as low as 4 degrees Celcius at night are forecasted which would feel like 0 degrees Celcius. The air temperature for the first three days of the week is set to lie between, 4°C and 12°C.

Donald Trump was actually sicker than he said with COVID-19

It seems that Donald Trump was actually much sicker than he let on when he had contracted the COVID-19 virus.

The New York Times has said that he was very close to being put on a ventilator when he was being hospitalised and that at one point, he developed a lung problem associated with pneumonia.

Trump and the white house staff continuously downplayed his sickness severity, and he urged people not to be afraid of the virus.
