COVID-19 cases drop below 50 for second time in December with deaths up to 177

Today’s COVID-19 daily update published on the ‘saħħa’ page reported 49 new cases registered overnight.

This would be the seventh two-digit case report for the month of December and the second time cases fell below 50.

However, one must take into consideration the spike in deaths, with the death toll up to 177.

One must not forget the importance of adhering to the imposed restrictions and measures.

49 COVID-19 cases registered overnight with 101 recoveries

67 COVID-19 cases registered overnight with 323 recoveries

Malta has registered 49 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours from 2,446 swab tests, while 101 patients have recovered. This information was announced by the official Facebook page of Malta’s Ministry for Health.

From yesterday’s cases; 34 cases were family members of previously known cases, 19 cases were contact of positive work colleagues, 4 cases were direct contacts with other positive cases and 4 cases were from social gatherings with other positive cases.

To date, Malta has registered 11,303 COVID-19 cases in total, of which: 9,420 have recovered, 177 died and 1,706 are still active.

Joe Biden victory officially confirmed by Electoral College

The Electoral College has confirmed Joe Biden’s solid victory against Donald Trump after Trump’s countless attempts to challenge the validity of the president-elect’s victory.

California’s 55 electoral votes secured Biden’s desired threshold and a seat in the Oval Office in what has been called a ‘victory for democracy’ with Biden calling upon ‘a time to unite and to heal’.

Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are officially the President and Vice-President of the United States, respectively, with a collective 306 electoral votes.
