A number of fathers dressed in Father Christmas clothing took to the Streets of Valletta on Saturday to march in the name of better parenting arrangements for fathers.
Titled ‘Put The Father Back in Christmas’, the march was organised by the page ‘Flimkien Missirijiet Inqumu’, a group which aims to ‘bring fathers passing trough hell to see their kids together.’ The page has gained over 13,000 followers since its founding and aims to raise awareness on issues faced by fathers. During their March in Valletta, fathers held signs which read ‘Visitation is for criminals behind bars not for children and their dads’ as well as ‘the best child support is equal parenting,’ amongst others.
One of the group’s main aims is to put into place a 50-50 parenting time system, with parents able to spend equal time with their children from custody arrangements. The group is currently registering as a voluntary organisation and hopes to attract more fathers which relate to their cause, especially during the holiday season.
