Over 160 Road Checks During Holidays On Maltese Roads
Jan 1 2024 Share

As many of us celebrated the beginning of 2024, the Malta Police Force was hard at work with inspections on Maltese roads to make sure that drivers were safe.

The force reported that up until last night, over 160 road checks took place on our roads, with over 4,500 vehicles being stopped.

During these inspections, 600 drivers were fined for violating traffic regulations. These included driving without a license, use of mobile phones, speeding, lack of seat belt use as well as illegal tinted windows.

Thankfully, no accidents were reported on the first night of the year of 2024. No serious road accidents were even reported during the holidays.

The Malta Police Force, along with Transport Malta, will continue these inspections, but urged the public to continue to drive safe to avoid any accidents and tragedies.

Calling the Union ‘active’ and ‘decisive’ on the issues that matter, Metsola voiced the messages she heard by various people she met around the bloc.

These included Maria from Lisbon’s appeal to make Europe safer and fairer as well as a message to see neighbouring countries possibly embraced, as promised to Nadiia, a young student in Lviv.

‘This will be Europe’s year. This must be your moment’, she concluded.
