The Building and Construction Authority (BCA), together with the Civil Protection Department (CPD), has announced the completion of the controlled demolition works at the site on Paceville Street in St Julian’s.
The operation, which took place over a period of three days, was managed jointly by the BCA and CPD, with the collaboration of several other authorities and agencies.
Support was provided by the Occupational Health and Safety Authority, the Police, Transport Malta, LESA, Mater Dei Hospital’s Emergency Department, Enemalta, the Water Services Corporation, the Cleaning and Maintenance Division, the Detention Services Agency and various private contractors.
Following this phase, the BCA will move on to clearing the site and reopening the road to the public. These tasks will be carefully monitored to safeguard nearby properties and ensure public safety, the statement explained.
The BCA is maintaining ongoing communication with residents and business owners who were displaced by the incident. Where possible, arrangements are being made for their return in the coming days.
Meanwhile, a formal investigation into the incident remains in progress. Independent professionals appointed by the BCA are leading this inquiry.
