COVID-19 contact tracing is reportedly 9 days behind on cases as case management and the respective units are overwhelmed with work, The Malta Independent on Sunday has reported.

Workers in the sector have told the Malta Independent that they are “drained and tired”, with the prolonged waiting time contrasting Health Minister Chris Fearne’s previous claims contact within 24 hours for positive COVID-19 cases and 4 days for contacts of the case.

Malta currently stands at 3,144 active COVID-19 cases out of the total 26,267 cases.
