Infrastructure and Transport Minister Aaron Farrugia announced today the launch of Connections for Safer Active Mobility Project, through an investment €35 million spread over 5 years.
The nationwide plan is designed for ‘promoting and enhancing the use of alternative modes of transport with safer pedestrian and cycling connections.’
Among the projects are a Mobility Hub in Blata l-Bajda Interchange as well as the C-Sam ‘Eco Route’ Network Project.
In a statement, Minister Farrugia explained how the first phase will revolve around the Grand Harbour area to create an adequate and secure infrastructure for those wishing to walk, use bikes or other means which are not private vehicles.
‘Through this project we aim to change the mentality and promote the use of active mobility whilst educating people on how using a car is not always the best option’ said Farrugia.
