Max, the result of the recent merger between HBO Max and Discovery+ streaming services, has exciting news for fans of the Harry Potter series.
A new Harry Potter TV series is in the works, with a new cast and each season focusing on one of the seven books in J.K. Rowling’s iconic series.
Warner Bros. Discovery expects the series to last for a decade, with each season diving deeper into the Wizarding World.
Casey Bloys, CEO of HBO and Max content, expressed his excitement about the opportunity to give audiences a fresh take on Hogwarts. “Harry Potter is a cultural phenomenon and it is clear there is such an enduring love and thirst for the Wizarding World,” said Bloys in a statement.
While some fans expressed reservations about the series, many are eager to see more of the Harry Potter universe on their screens.
J.K. Rowling, who is serving as an executive producer on the project, is also excited about the chance to give the series a level of depth that can only be achieved through a long-form TV show. “I’m looking forward to being part of this new adaptation,” said Rowling in a statement, “Max’s commitment to preserving the integrity of my books is important to me.”
