Jul 21 2024 Share

As reported by popular local news outlet It-Temp Madwarna, last night was the coldest ever night recorded in the Northeast area of Australia, with it only being a chilling 0.5 °C.

This cold temperature was recorded in Palmerville, Australia and ultimately highlights the ever changing dynamics of rising and cooling temperatures around the world.

On the other side of the world, Argentina also suffered from cold temperatures as they experienced subzero temperatures with several cities being covered in snow.

In comparison to Australia and South America, the Middle East has been suffering with problems of overheating.

In several Middle Eastern countries temperatures reached as high as 51°C during the worst heatwave experienced by these countries in the last 50 years.

There have been several power cuts and packed hospitals, with Iran declaring a national emergency for two days.

Thrift Malta owner and local content creator Chris Bartolo Burlo was forced to take to the streets of Gżira on July 20th after a power cut left him unable to operate his store.

Humorously taking a jab at what seems to have become a running gag over the past few weeks, the thrift shop owner posted a video to his businesses’ social media to suggest that he had no other choice but to take to the streets and sell fry eggs after being rendered unable to operate his establishment.

The video concluded with a light-hearted albeit striking sentence, saying, ‘A moment of silence for the electricity that on the 20th of July went and never came back’.

Thrift Malta is a local business operating in Upper Saint Albert Street Gżira and online, offering a range of thrifted garments for fashion lovers, people shunning fast fashion or those looking for a more sustainable styling option.

Various businesses across Malta took to social media over the past few days to highlight how their businesses suffered for various reasons due to the nation-wide power cuts experienced this summer.
