Close Up Look At Turtle Creating Nest On Maltese Beach

Wildlife Rescue Team Malta shared a closer look of a turtle creating her nest on a Maltese beach.

This was the 5th nest to be located by activists and patrols, with Environment and Resources Authority (ERA) officials immediately arriving on site to secure the area.

‘It was an incredibly magical moment to witness the whole process, and the members of the public present on the beach were also invited to watch parts of the process through our night vision camera.’

‘They got to see the process from start to finish: how we stay away from the turtle, how we locate the nesting chamber and also how we check for the presence of microchips.’

The turtle also turned out to be the one that laid the first nest of the season at Golden Bay on Saturday 15th June.

‘We will now wait 2 months until we hopefully get to see the little hatchlings emerging from the nest.’

Chris Fearne Will Not Seek PL Deputy Leader Re-Election

Chris Fearne announced he will not seek re-election as Labour deputy leader in September. This follows a magistrate’s ruling that he and others face trial for fraud in the Vitals hospitals case.

Fearne, who resigned as deputy prime minister two months ago, remained Labour’s deputy leader for parliamentary affairs.

No new deputy prime minister has been appointed due to party rules stating the deputy leader assumes this role when Labour is in government.

Fearne decided not to seek re-election to allow a new deputy leader to become deputy prime minister, emphasizing national interest and respect for the courts.

He is confident in proving his innocence, citing a recently uncovered malicious frame-up costing over €6 million by some of the accused in the Vitals case.

Fearne stressed the importance of Malta’s interests and his integrity, both in and out of court. Labour Party elections for deputy leaders and other positions will be held on September 13-14, with nominations open from August 23-25.

If no candidate achieves a 50% majority, a second round will be conducted.

Snoop Dogg is officially joining the 2024 Olympics, but not as an athlete. The iconic rapper has been named the final torchbearer and will carry the Olympic torch on the final stretch before the official opening ceremony.

This announcement was confirmed by Mathieu Hanotin, the mayor of Saint-Denis, on X (formerly known as Twitter). Snoop will carry the torch through the town of Saint-Denis, home to Stade de France and the new Olympic Aquatics Centre. This leg of the journey marks the final stretch of the torch-bearing trek, culminating at the Eiffel Tower. Here, Snoop will set the torch into the Olympic cauldron in the Tuileries Gardens.

Joining Snoop on the penultimate stretch are French actress Laetitia Casta, French rapper MC Solaar, and retired Ukrainian pole-vaulter Sergey Bubka. The final torchbearer, who will conclude the journey, has yet to be revealed.
