Civil society NGOs to call for justice on Caruana Galizia case in 1st March protest.

Feb 26 2021 Share

Civil society NGOs Repubblika, manueldelia.com and #occupyjustice will be taking to the front of Parliament to protest a renewed call for justice with regards to Daphne Caruana Galizia’s case. The NGOs expressed their anger at Prime Minister Robert Abela’s seeming eagerness to close the case.

Using the admission of Vince Muscat, known as il-Koħħu, as a sign that the state has fulfilled its duty, the NGOs stated that this is simply ‘self-congratulation’.

According to them, this is ‘being used to undermine a country and forget the impunity that politicians still enjoy for the corruption they have committed.’ They also refer to the Electrogas contract, from which the owners are allegedly still making money. As public protests are allowed, the NGOs stated that they will seize the opportunity to fight the corruption.
