The 8th recruitment course of the Civil Protection Malta department is currently underway, with new recruits building up a repertoire of skills that they will need on the job.

With 15 weeks left to go, the recruits will be put the test in various high intensity situations so that they can, once graduated, keep Malta’s citizens safe whenever they are needed.

Malta emerged victorious in the COMEN Cup 2024, which took place in recent days on the island.

The competition, open to players under 16 years old, was organised by the Mediterranean Swimming Confederation.

The event was also hosted by the Aquatic Sports Association of Malta, which means it will be benefitting from funds through the SportMalta Assistance Scheme Sports for Tourism.

Four teams were initially set to participate: Malta A, Malta B, Monaco, and Cyprus. However, Cyprus withdrew from the competition at the last minute.

In the final, Malta A triumphed over Monaco with a score of 12-8.

Transport Malta informed commuters this morning that due to an accident in Triq Burmarrad, the roadway in direction to Mosta has been closed.

Both lanes were closed off to traffic from 9:30am onwards until the situation is resolved.
