Air Raid Sirens Take Over Roberta Metsola and Volodymyr Zelensky Press Conference

May 10 2024 Share

European Parliament President Roberta Metsola has yet again shown her defiance and courage by visiting war torn Ukraine during Europe Day.

It wasn’t her visit only that made headlines but also the fact that during Metsola’s and Volodymyr Zelensky’s press conference in Kyiv, air raid sirens started beaming, meaning that all the journalists and officials had to evacuate the area.

The two presidents were reaching the end of the press conference before being interrupted by the sirens and having to be evacuated.

A very angry and disappointed looking Zelensky told the reporters “This is what the Nazis do in Europe. This is the reality of Europe Day for us Ukrainians,”

He then asked Metsola if she was ok to which she confidently answered yes and continued on by saying that the abrupt air raid sirens gives her and other Europeans an idea of what Ukrainians live through every day.

Metsola and the Maltese journalists were quickly taken to a nearby shelter and were shown real time images of Russian missiles entering Ukraine’s airspace.

Before the sirens started beaming, Zelensky thanked the European Parliament and Roberta Metsola for protecting lives and for fighting for peace and awarded her the Ukrianian Order of Merit first class.
