Chris Fearne advises against large family gatherings during Christmas time

In an interview on TVAM, Deputy Prime Minister and Health Minister Chris Fearne re-iterated the recently imposed rule of the 6-person maximum in public places and stated that which cannot be done publicly should not be done in private homes either. 

Fearne advised against the organising of Christmas gatherings where families convene at home. 

He went on to reinforce the fact that with Winter coming and infection rates increasing around Europe, Malta has to prepare for the worst.

80-year-old woman is the 55th victim of COVID-19

The Health Authorities have reported the death of an 88-year-old woman who had tested positive for COVID-19. 

The woman tested positive on the 20th of October and was admitted to Mater Dei on the 21st where she received treatment and died earlier today. 

The Health Authorities have reported that the woman also suffered from chronic illness. This is the second COVID-19 death reported today.

Four-year jail sentence for brothers who burned other brother’s car

Two brothers have locked a four-year jail sentence after being found guilty of burning their brother’s car. 

The incident occurred on the 5th of March following a family argument where Roderick and Errol Grech, from Żejtun, set their younger brother Rosario’s car on fire.

It is reported that the family has a long criminal history with cases of violence, assault, driving offences and recidivism.

WasteServ and Civil Protection handle Autoclave fire with no injuries sustained

Following this morning’s news of a fire at WasteServ’s autoclave plant, the company took to social media to report that the situation is under control with all workers accounted for. 

WasteServ thanked The Civil Protection Department for their swift work and advised that the plant has been shut down temporarily as a precautionary measure.
