Chiara X Kurt Calleja? Eurovision Icons Tease Unexpected Collaboration

Chiara X Kurt Calleja? Eurovision Icons Tease Unexpected Collaboration
Apr 30 2025 Share

Yesterday, Maltese Eurovision fans were sent into a frenzy after singer-songwriter Kurt Calleja shared a cryptic Instagram story featuring none other than Chiara Siracusa, one of Malta’s most iconic vocalists. The clip captured a heartwarming moment from Kurt’s studio, accompanied by the caption:

“Imagine telling me 20 years ago when I was at home watching this Diva take Europe by storm that she will one day be in my studio working on a collaboration.”

The “Diva” in question, of course, is Chiara—best known for her timeless ballad “Angel”, which soared to 2nd place at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2005, marking Malta’s joint-best result in the competition’s history. The post comes as Chiara celebrates 20 years since her first Eurovision appearance in 1998 with “The One That I Love”—a song that earned her a strong 3rd place finish.

Now, with the potential of a collaboration between Chiara and Kurt, fans are buzzing with questions. Could we be getting a revamped version of “Angel”, perhaps in Maltese? Or is it a brand-new duet, primed to become a summer hit?

Kurt Calleja is no stranger to Eurovision himself, having represented Malta in 2012 with his upbeat track “This is the Night.” More recently, he’s gained attention for his Maltese-language single “Bla Tarf”, showcasing his range as both a performer and songwriter. With Kurt’s pop energy and Chiara’s soulful power vocals, the possibilities for this collaboration are endless—and undeniably exciting.

While no official announcement has been made just yet, one thing is clear: something big is brewing. Until then, fans will have to sit tight, refresh their feeds, and maybe play Angel on repeat—just in case.

Minister for Social and Affordable Housing Roderick Galdes outlined the government’s long-term vision for the sector during a national conference organised by the Housing Authority.

Housing Authority CEO Matthew Zerafa and Housing Europe’s Secretary General Sorcha Edwards also addressed the conference, which featured discussions from public, private, banking and academic sectors on the future of housing in Malta.

The event brought together key stakeholders to discuss achievements, current initiatives and future plans.

Galdes emphasised the role of Vision Malta 2050, a national strategy focused on quality of life and sustainable growth, with social and affordable housing as a core pillar.

He announced a goal to reduce the social housing waiting list by up to 20% by 2035, building on progress that saw the list nearly halved from 2018 to 2024.

From 2017 to 2023, over €52 million was invested to help 1,391 families become homeowners through schemes like Deposit Guarantee and Equity Sharing.

In 2024, €18 million supported over 5,700 families through rental subsidies. The minister also noted that more than 66,000 rental contracts have been registered under the 2020 rent law.

Taking to social media, former Prime Minister Joseph Muscat called a testimony given in court a vile lie (gidba faħxija) wherein a former prisoner ‘with a history of crime and drug abuse’ claimed someone told her he (Muscat) paid someone to plant the bomb that killed Daphne Caruana Galizia.

‘I remind everyone that it was the government led by me that brought in the experts who helped identify those who admitted to committing the crime’, said Muscat.

‘I have never been informed of this allegation by the investigators, nor have I ever been asked to testify about it’ he concluded.
