The match was dominated by the European champions, Chelsea. They had 71% of the possession throughout the match and managed to challenge the goal 22 times whilst Palmerias only 11 times. The first goal of the game came from a clean Romelu Lukaku header in the 54th minute. The Brazilian side managed to equalize only 10 minutes later from a penalty because of a Thiago Silva handball in the box. The match ended with both teams searching for a winner meaning that extra time was needed.
The next 30 minutes was very similar to the previous 90. Both teams had chances but weren’t clinical enough in front of the net. Chelsea’s winner came in the 115th minute when young star Kai Havertz stepped up and scored a late and dramatic penalty to win the tournament for the Blues. The final ended with even more drama as in the 126th minute Palmerias player Luan Garcia recieved a straight red card for tackling Kai Havertz who was the last man in front of the Palmerias keeper.
