Chef Sean Gravina disappointed with new measures concerning restaurants

He expressed how almost more than half of restaurants cannot offer take-away due to the food they provide on their menu. He emphasised how other countries show that restaurants and other food establishments are not the primary cause since numbers of cases continued to rise despite their closing. He condemns large gatherings and people’s irresponsibility as being the main cause of the pandemic’s continuous effects.

After her speech, Bonello, who was 16 at the time, claimed she was warned that her fate could be the same as Daphne Caruana Galizia. Of four people who were accused of hate speech, two appeared in court. Hamrun-Hibs game given go ahead with no new COVID-19 cases

Saturday’s match between Hamrun Spartans and Hibernians was given the green light as no new positive COVID-19 tests emerged from the Spartans following testing on Thursday. Spartans confirmed on Tuesday that two members of first-team and a youth selection member tested positive. This put their FA Trophy match against Xaghra United and Premier League against Hibernians on Saturday.

Spartans were scheduled for a round of swab tests and if one other member had tested positive, Saturday’s match would have been postponed. The whole squad would have also been placed in a mandatory 15-day quarantine. Tests however proved otherwise, with the Premier League game at the National Stadium being confirmed.

Cannabis and cocaine usage increase, heroin usage decrease

A new report published on Friday has showed that cannabis and cocaine usage in Malta has increased whereas heroin use has decreased. Provided by National Report on the Drug Situation in Malta for 2020, the statistics show that police seize cannabis most frequently. Cannabis is also the only illicit drug produced in Malta.

Cannabis continuously appears to be the third most used drug addicts seek treatment for. 2018 saw 13% reporting cannabis to be their primary drug. Drug importation seemed to shift to sea vessels during the pandemic, but also listed postal services as another possibility. A Cannabis White Paper is to include a harm reduction approach, said Social Solidarity Minister Michael Falzon, as the a model that fits Malta in terms of cannabis.
