Charles Leclerc Leads Ferrari To Surprise Victory In Home Race Monza

Sep 2 2024 Share

Over the weekend, Charles Leclerc and his scarlet red Ferrari car, produced one of the most iconic wins at the Scuderia’s historic home track, Monza.

Despite trailing behind favourites McLaren all weekend long and starting in P4, Charles Leclerc and Ferrari managed to pull a historic win out of the bag due to their risky one stop strategy.

This is Leclerc’s second win in Tifosi heartland Monza, with his first coming all the way back in 2019. After the race and podium celebrations, the Monegasque driver stated that ‘Dreams do repeat themselves’, referring to his 2019 Monza win.

The 2024 season will undoubtedly remain fresh in Leclerc’s and his fans’ minds, with the driver winning both his home grand prix in Monaco and Ferrari’s home grand prix in Monza with Charles after the race stating “I mean Monaco and Monza are the two races I want to win every year. Obviously I want to win as many races as possible, and the World Championship as soon as possible, but these are the two most important races of the season and I managed to win them this year. It’s so, so special.”

One man’s joy resulted in two men’s despair, as the McLaren drivers Lando Norrris and Oscar Piastri seemed dejected and distraught after the race, with Lando failing to properly capitalize on an opportunity to take a huge step closer to leader Max Verstappen in the championship and Piastri searching for his second ever win.
