Professor Alastair Cox from Loughborough hosted a specialised Football Turf Maintenance Workshop, which helped equipping ground staff with the latest in pitch care techniques.
Malta Football Association announced the works being done to replace the artificial turf, to ensure the stop standards for the players and clubs.

Raniero’s Adventures, a diver who discovered a large tuna head in Sliema waters believes the carcass may have been the reason for the shark sighting over the weekend.
He added, “Since the tuna head is still untouched, it’s likely the shark is no longer around in Sliema as it would have eaten it by now.”

According to Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism Ian Borg, there are currently 16 Maltese citizens incarcerated in prisons outside of Malta.
Answered in a Parliamentary question Deputy Prime Minister added, Under the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations, if a Maltese citizen is imprisoned in another country, they have the right to request assistance from Malta’s consular services. However, consular officials can only intervene or make contact if the prisoner explicitly asks for help.

Minister for Justice and Reform, Jonathan Attard, delivered a keynote address at the launch of the Malta Property Landscape 2025, an annual report produced by Grant Thornton Malta and Dhalia, which offered in-depth insights into the trends shaping Malta’s property market.
Minister Attard praised the fourth edition of the report as an essential tool for fostering a resilient and sustainable property sector. He noted that the publication supported policymakers, investors, and professionals in building a sector that aligned with the needs of Maltese society.
The 2025 report revealed that more than 12,500 property transactions took place in 2024, valued at approximately €3.5 billion, marking a 3.4% increase from the previous year. The report also highlighted a return of commercial property permits to pre-pandemic levels, driven by strong activity in tourism, financial services, IT, and gaming.
Minister Attard stressed the importance of long-term planning and sustainability within the sector, particularly in light of Malta’s commitment to achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. He pointed to the recently launched ‘Ixtri Proprjetà Sostenibbli’ scheme, which provided financial grants for purchasing homes that met specific sustainability criteria.
The Minister also discussed recent regulatory reforms, including the establishment of the Property Market Agency, designed to raise professional standards, regulate market intermediaries, and enhance consumer protection. This work complemented the ongoing efforts of the Property Malta Foundation, which continued to position Malta as a leading destination for international property investment.
Minister Attard concluded by emphasising that the property sector impacted the lives of thousands of people, from planning and construction to market operations. As Malta moved towards its Vision 2050, he reiterated the need to consolidate the progress made while embracing bold new initiatives to ensure the sector’s continued success.
