Celebrate Maltese Flavours at the Valletta Local Food Festival

Get your forks ready and your taste buds tingling, the Valletta Local Food Festival is back from Friday 4th to Sunday 6th July, and it’s tastier than ever! Set against the stunning backdrop of the Upper Barrakka Gardens, this year’s festival promises a mouth-watering celebration of all things Maltese, from the traditional to the truly unexpected.

Expect over 25 local legends in the food game including creamy ġbejniet, sizzling mazzola, rich bigilla, and even fig-infused desserts. There’ll be tamal pies, ħobż biż-żejt done the old-school way, and modern twists like chocolate-filled kannoli and artisanal liqueurs. If it’s made in Malta, it’s probably here.

Highlighting the festival’s ability to bring together Malta’s rich gastronomy, Minister for the National Heritage, the Arts and Local Government said “This festival is all about bringing people together through our unique flavours and shared heritage.” Meanwhile, Agriculture Minister Anton Refalo praised the island’s producers, ensuring local farming and food traditions thrive.

And don’t miss the live cooking action with Chef Charles Bone, who’ll be sizzling up fresh Maltese fish with a sustainable twist.

With trusted names like Benna, San Niklaw Farm, Lucky Star Bakery, and live beats from Sarah Bonnici, Klinsmann Trio, and more, this isn’t just a food fest. It’s a full-on celebration of Maltese identity, creativity, and community.

Official Malta Premier Match Ball Revealed

Malta Premier, along with Eurosport Malta, finally announced the official Malta Premier Match Ball.

Ahead of the 2025/26 season, Malta Premier unveiled the red, white and black ball for the ‘best teams’.

‘That’s where the Adidas Tiro Pro match football comes in’, said wrote Malta Premier.

‘Featuring a traditional 32-panel design and stamped with FIFA’s highest rating, this ball is built for top performance.’

So here’s the 100% polyurethane, seamless TSBE technology, High-grade butyl bladder, FIFA Quality Pro certified top match ball!

Majority Prefer Alex Borg Over Adrian Delia For PN Leader

Asking our followers on social media, it seems as though Alex Borg is the current public favourite to take on the Nationalist Party leadership.

So far, Alex Borg and Adrian Delia announced their intent to run for the position, and only Alex has formally submitted his name in the race.

In terms of poll votes, Alex received well over 500 votes out of around 800 responses, whereas Adrian received just under 300.

The comments also suggest they both of them would be appreciated as leaders for the Nationalist Party, with many highlighting what both could bring to the Opposition.

US Sailor Team Helps Make Local Dog Shelter Kennels Safer

A team of sailors from the United States helped local animal shelter Association for Abandoned Animals to make the outside dog kennels safer.

The AAA reported that the dogs were digging into the garden soil and it was becoming quite dangerous as some of them were nearly able to pass from their room to the next.

The team from the US ‘did the back-breaking work of making a trench under the metal separators and filling them up with concrete.’

The AAA thanked the USA Embassy for the work and the tools. ‘Our dogs are now safer.’
