The recent publishing of the United nations’ World Happiness Report has revealed that Malta has dropped 17 places in the worldwide study of happiness in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Malta endured one of the biggest drops in the global index, placing 37th out of the 95 total countries, with the index measuring ‘life evaluation’, taking into consideration the pandemic’s effects on emotions.

Finland maintained its top spot as the world’s happiest countries, followed by Denmark, Switzerland and Iceland, with the index measuring factors such as Gross Domestic Product, levels of corruption, freedom and social support, all of which contribute to what is called a ‘happiness score’ for countries.

Five local pizza places you should try this weekend

Mar 19 2021 Share

Times are tough for local businesses right now and keeping the ball rolling is much more difficult than it once was, so supporting local is a HUGE thing to do right now. Every now and then, we compile a list of some of the best local eateries and activities, and the following is a short list of some of our favourite pizza spots. Take a look below and if you find tonight’s dinner, let us know.

This St. Julian’s pizza place provides Artisanal Italian Style pizza which makes our mouth water even by looking at it!

Exploding with flavour, their light, crispy pizza crust is to die for and with their traditional order-by-weight system, enough is never enough.

Emmanuel’s Bakery is a staple Qormi establishment beloved by many… and its crust is the stuff of legend.

Think thick, fluffy Maltese bread, in pizza form, and to top it all off (pun intended) their wide variety of flavours and toppings make this place a must-try.

Sotto Pizzeria’s food is a journey in and of itself and brings its trademark ‘pins Romana’ to the streets of Valletta.

A fan favourite for many, nothing really compares to Sotto’s diverse palette of delicious flavours and satisfying textures.

Calling this place a Hamrun hotspot a local gem would be putting it lightly.

Pulcinella Cafe & Pizzeria offers some of the finest Neapolitan flavours the island has to offer and its classic Italian dining setting and family-run vibe will make you feel right at home. Pizza Lovers, if you haven’t tried this one, get to it ASAP.

Specials on specials on specials. Pepito Pizza Truck is a one-of-a-kind dining experience which brings traditional, freshly-baked Italian delights straight to your door.

With such a wide variety of pizzas to choose from, with free delivery on certain nights, it’s too hard to resist.

Spain legalises euthanasia

spain legalises euthanasia
Mar 19 2021 Share

Lawmakers in Spain’s lower parliament have voted in favour of legalising assisted suicide and euthanasia. Taking effect in June, the law will allow patients who have suffered for a long time with ‘serious, chronic illness with no chance of no recovery and unbearable suffering’ to seek support in undergoing assisted suicide.

Before the legislation’s passing, assisting suicide of another person could lead to 10 years in prison. Along with Belgium, Luxembourg and Netherlands however, Spain becomes another European country to legalise the practice. Portugal however, the country’s neighbour, attempted the legislation but failed as it deemed it ‘unconstitutional. Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez stated that through this law, the country has become more humane, fairer and freer.
