Bayern solidify status as one of Champions League favourites after Barcelona victory

Sep 15 2021 Share

One of the most awaited games of the Champions League happened yesterday, when Barcelona welcomed Bayern to the Camp Nou. The game didn’t go according to plan for the Blaugrana as Bayern stormed to a 3-0 victory to further solidify their intentions as one of the favourites.

Once the game started, it looked like Bayern’s to lose as they rarely misplaced a pass and looked levels ahead of their opponents. Bayern’s defence was a highlight of the game not conceding a shot on goal and keeping dangerous player Memphis Depay out of the game.  The first goal of the game came in the 34th minute from a deflected Thomas Muller long shot.

The second half continued how the game started with Bayern being more clinical and deadly in attack, whilst Barcelona lacked ideas. Bayern star striker Robert Lewandowski scored hid first UCL goal of the season from a rebound off the post. The game continued and whilst Barcelona grew into the game more when Philippe Coutinho and youngster Gavi were introduced they were still lackluster. Lewandowski doubled his tally in the 84th minute and at the same time killed off any chance of a Barcelona comeback.

This was the first time since 1997 that Barcelona have lost their opening game of the Champions League. The Catalan side at certain times look unrecognizable to the side we’ve all grown up to. Bayern will be happy with this result and will now look to safely qualify to the next round.

A new Patrolling Ranger Unit has been announced by the Heritage Parks Federation Unit (HPF) and it will be covering additional areas around Malta to safeguard and protect it all. The Ranger Unit will be adding sites managed by Nature Trust – FEE Malta and Din l-Art Helwa to its areas as of the 13th of September.

The federation posted to Facebook revealing how in 2021, the Majjistral Park ‘implemented more frequent patrols and this proved to be very beneficial, both for protecting the Park’s biodiversity and to educate the visitors on the green code; how to behave when being in nature.’

The rangers will receive training in different areas realign from flora and fauna, Natura2000 sites, wildlife rescue, first aid, basic fire safety and environmental laws. With a fundraiser set to launch shortly along with a call for volunteers, the unit is endorsed by the Malta Police.
