Taking to social media, ‘Manoel Island: Post Għalina’, which comprises the activists who pushed for a petition to see Manoel Island returned to the public as an public green space, welcomed the recent statement by MIDI plc concerning its negotiations with the Maltese government.
MIDI plc revealed on Sunday that it will be negotiating with the government to see Manoel Island returned to the public as an open public space.
‘This is precisely the result we wanted to reach through this campaign – that all moving parts work together so that the best result for everyone is reached, and most importantly for the public and the common good.’
‘This is the strength of the movement we created, the strength of a collective push’, wrote the group, congratulating everyone who formed part of the initiative.
‘We will pay close attention to all the latest developments and will study them closely. Manoel Island will be a space for us!’

The teams will go on to represent Malta at ‘Gen_E’, Europe’s largest entrepreneurship festival, taking place in Athens, Greece from 1 to 3 July 2025, competing against 42 other countries. This year, over 250 students from 12 schools and educational institutions participated in JA Malta’s programmes.
