According to recently released information by the National Statistics Office, a total of 8,742 trips were carried out between Malta and Gozo between January and March of this year.
These trips carried a total of 1,254,008 passengers, with March being the busiest month with a record total of 3,497 trips (40%) of total trips for the quarter.
A total of 1,181,389 passengers travelled between Mġarr and Ċirkewwa during the first quarter of 2023, which is an increase of 22.8% when compared to the same period in 2022.
The highest number of passengers was also recorded in March at 447,873 (37.9%) of the total for the quarter. Compared to the previous year, the number of vehicles increased by 8.2%.
During the first quarter, the number of trips amounted to 7,888 (up by 0.1% over 2022). March once again registered the highest number of trips – 3,017, or 38.2%, of total trips for the quarter.
Meanwhile, a total of 854 trips were carried out between Mġarr and Valletta, carrying a total of 72,619 passengers during the first quarter. Compared to same quarter in 2022, the number of trips decreased by 43.8, with number of passengers increasing by 8.0%.
March registered the highest number of trips – 480, or 56.2%, of total trips for the quarter – and also the highest number of passengers – 36,585 (50.4%) for the quarter.
