Despite the intense stormy weather, Transport Malta took to Malta’s roads to conduct further inspections as many grow concerned about an increase in road accidents.
Transport Malta revealed that they held another roadside inspection with the Malta Police Force, during which 280 cars were inspected. This led to 86 vehicles being stopped for various road rule breaches.
The Maltese government and respective authorities seemed to have stepped up their vigilance on the roads given the increase in road accidents, which led to various injuries and even fatalities.
Just in 2022’s third quarter, 4062 traffic incidents were reported. This is up 2.1% over the same period of the previous year. The traffic accident reports of 2023’s first quarter are yet to be revealed, given that we are still in January.
However, many accidents reported indicate that the trend could still be ongoing, leading to further road inspections by authorities.
