Local singer and songwriter Kurt Calleja was at a wedding when he was surprised by the bride’s tattoo on her arm – the title of his Mużika Mużika winning song ‘Bla Tarf.’

The bride herself hailed from Serbia and showed the tattoo to Kurt’s followers on Instagram in an adorable story video.

Kurt of course did not pass the opportunity to sing the bride’s seemingly favourite song during the wedding as she danced to it with her partner.

The Malta Records will have to confirm this feat for possibly the biggest wedding cake for the island.

Almost 73% Voter Turnout, Say Early Approximates

The 2024 European Parliament elections saw a nationwide voter turnout of approximately 72.82%, including around 22,000 early votes.

This figure is based on the total number of registered voters, including those who did not collect their voting documents. In comparison, the 2019 turnout was 72.7%.

Excluding those who did not collect their documents, the 2024 turnout increases to 81.03%.

Turnout was lowest in the traditionally PN strongholds of the 10th, 12th, and 9th districts, ranging from 56% to just under 63%.

The 6th and 8th districts saw the largest declines compared to 2019, with drops of 6.55% and 6.19%, respectively. The 6th district includes Qormi, Siġġiewi, Żebbuġ, and Luqa, while the 8th includes Balzan, Birkirkara, Swatar, Iklin, and Lija. Turnout also decreased in Labour strongholds such as the 2nd and 4th districts by 4.49 and 4.96 percentage points.

Local council elections had a lower turnout of approximately 59.47%. The lowest turnouts were in St Julian’s, Sliema, St Paul’s Bay, and Gżira, ranging from 26.69% to 28.87%. Higher turnouts were observed in smaller localities like Kerċem (75.04%), Dingli (74.23%), and Santa Luċija (73.53%).

Six MEP seats are contested, with ballot counting and verification ongoing. Results are expected by late morning, with political parties having four hours to confirm them before official announcement.
