Breathalysers set to be introduced in UK nightclubs in attempt to increase safety

Breathalysers set to be introduced in UK nightclubs in attempt to increase safety

Nightclubs and alcohol go together like bread & butter and, while taking care of oneself and limiting one’s alcohol consumption is strongly recommended, sometimes it is just inevitable.

Luckily, authorities in the United Kingdom are aware of this situation and are set to introduce breathalysers in nightclubs in an attempt to increase safety in the UK’s entertainment scene.

Kicking off the project with increased monitoring in Durham, nightclub staff will test potential partygoers with breathalyser to determine if they are fit enough to enter the club. Pre-drinking in particular has posed as somewhat of a problem as the culture of excessively loading on alcohol before heading to the club in an attempt to cut costs has resulted in the heavy inebriation of partygoers before the fact.

While the decision will not affect the amount of consumption from within the clubs, the idea is to prevent drunk individuals from entering beforehand.

Should such a strategy be implemented in Malta?

Shower together to save energy, Swiss energy minister suggests
Sep 24 2022 Share

As governing bodies around the world continue to put forward laws & suggestions to attempt to save energy, Switzerland’s environment minister has suggested that people shower together to cut consumption.

As part of her promoted measures to reduce energy consumption in winter by 15%, 62-year-old Simonetta Sommaruga suggested people turn off the computer when they don’t need it, turn of the lights and shower together.

The unorthodox suggestion was met with a mix of reactions, with Sommaruga eventually having to clarify her tip. The minister then stated that the suggestion was for younger people, stating that showering together is not suitable for everyone after a certain age.
