Limestone boulders have been placed by Infrastructure Malta at Mistra Bay to stop motorists from driving onto the protected beach or caravans from parking along perimeter. Authorities have been sued for their inaction after the issue remained a longstanding problem for beachgoers. A spokesperson for Infrastructure Malta told Times of Malta that the boulders were placed on Tuesday morning in response to requests by Ombudsman, ERA and other entities to protect access to the beach.
More boulders are yet to be placed as caravans parked in the area prevented the full placing from being completed. Infrastructure Malta is also set to paint new road markings and install road signs, thus marking clearly where caravan drivers or motorcycles drivers can park the vehicle.
