Kevin De Bruyne scores incredible goal to beat Chelsea

Jan 15 2022 Share

Premier League champions, Manchester City have narrowly beaten title rivals Chelsea. The only thing separating the two teams, was an incredible solo goal by Manchester City and former Chelsea midfielder Kevin De Bruyne in the latter end of the game. The result sees Manchester City extend their lead at the table by 13 points, however Liverpool could reduce that gap to 7 points if they win their 2 games in hand.

Manchester City as usual controlled the match from the start, using their technical players to play a more possession based game. Chelsea on the other hand relied on the physicality and pace of their players and the trickery of Hakim Ziyech and Christian Pulisic to try and catch the Cityzens on the counter. Chelsea didn’t have the best of first halves as they failed to create one chance, whilst City looked more confident on the ball, but couldn’t find the net.

The second half was better for Chelsea as they were starting to create chances but Manchester City still looked like the better team. The deadline was broken in the 70th minute when Kevin De Bruyne picked up the ball from deep and managed to curl it in the side of the net. The game ended with Manchester City still dominating the match looking to extend their lead whilst Chelsea kept on trying to get something out of the match.

New technology might mean a future with no more flat tires

New technology might mean a future with no more flat tires
Jan 15 2022 Share

Airless tires aren’t a new invention thanks to Michelin, but getting a flat-tire in the middle of a busy road might just become a thing of the past.

South Korean tire company Hankook Tire and Technology have been experimenting to make such a future a reality for over 10 years. It has now used CES 2022 to showcase the latest version of its airless I-Flex concept tire.

To showcase the tire, Hankook teamed up with Hyundai, fitting them into four large Plug and Drive (PnD) modules on the L7, which is a micro-mobility concept with infinite wheel rotation capabilities.

This allows it to change directions instantly, even in restricted spaces. The tire isn’t sized for cars, but was designed in a smaller 10-inch format tailored for such applications.

400 mm in diameter and 105mm in width, the concept was developed in biomimetic studies and testing maximise shock absorption and load-bearing.

In addition to making punctures and the accidents they cause a thing of the past, Hankook highlights the fact airless tires would be low maintenance, with no more need for tire pressure monitoring or pumping up flats.

Unfortunately, no timeline has been given for when you can be driving a car riding on airless tires. Hankook said its continuing research to make further improvements, with even competitors Michelin and Goodyear making progress.
