Boss Allegedly Asks Foreign Employee To Find Someone To Kill His Wife

Sep 9 2024 Share

According to a former foreign employee under oath, a Maltese business owner asked him to find a hitman to murder the boss’ estranged wife.

The employee stated that his boss was willing to pay thousands in order to have someone enter his wife’s home and strangle her whilst sleeping.

He also revealed that the business owner installed camera equipment outside and inside his former wife’s apartment to monitor and spy on her moves and all her conversations.

The details from this court case was revealed by Times of Malta, from a number of court documents accessed by the Times of Malta.

The worker, a skilled tradesman, was initially hired by a Maltese family business in southern Malta at the end of 2017.

He testified in court that his employer had approached him with a request to help arrange the murder of his wife, after discovering that the worker’s brother was in prison in their home country.

The Maltese man allegedly believed this connection would allow the worker to find a hitman.

“He assumed I could easily find someone to kill his wife because of my brother’s situation… He even drew a plan outlining how the murder should be carried out,” the worker stated.

The boss allegedly promised his employee a €10,000 reward to facilitate the murder of his former wife, however despite the pressure the employee never went through with the proposition and instead provided these plans and discussions held with his boss to the police.

Hunt For Man Who Threw Hot Coffee On Baby In Australia

Hunt For Man Who Threw Hot Coffee On Baby In Australia

A man accused of throwing scalding coffee on a baby in an unprovoked attack in Queensland, Australia, is the focus of an international manhunt. The incident occurred on August 27, when the man allegedly threw hot coffee on nine-month-old Luka while he was sitting with his mother at Brisbane’s Hanlon Park. The baby suffered serious burns to his face, arms, and legs.

Queensland Police Detective Inspector Paul Dalton revealed that the 33-year-old suspect, a foreign national, fled the country four days after the attack. Surveillance footage shows the man running from the scene, wearing a blue plaid shirt and glasses. The investigation was initially delayed due to false information about the man’s identity and his counter-surveillance efforts.

After fleeing Brisbane, the man traveled to New South Wales and then flew out of Sydney Airport on August 31. Police identified him on September 1 but found that he had already left the country. Described as an “itinerant worker,” the man had been in and out of Australia on various visas since 2019.

Authorities are still puzzled by the lack of a clear motive for the attack. The baby’s mother described the chaotic aftermath, with bystanders rushing to help. Luka has since undergone multiple surgeries for severe burns.

Institute Of Maltese Journalists Assumes Presidency Of European Federation of Press Clubs

Sep 9 2024 Share

The Institute of Maltese Journalists (IGM) has taken on the presidency of the European Federation of Press Clubs (EFPC) for the first time in its 35-year history.

The official handover from the previous presidency, the Galician International Press Centre, occurred during the EFPC’s annual general meeting, hosted by the IGM in Malta. The IGM will lead the federation for a year, with representatives from 14 European press clubs attending the event.

As part of the program, the delegation visited President of Malta, Myriam Spiteri Debono, at San Anton Palace on Friday morning, where they discussed the vital role of journalism.

Malta was proposed as the next seat for the EFPC presidency during the last meeting in Santiago de Compostela, in recognition of the IGM’s efforts to enhance press and media freedom in Malta following the assassination of journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia.

“It is a great honour for Malta to be chosen as the EFPC’s headquarters. This is also a prestigious milestone for the IGM, as it marks our first time presiding over a European journalism body. We are filled with determination to continue advocating for changes in the local media landscape and greater respect for journalists and the profession,” said Matthew Xuereb, President of both the IGM and EFPC.

The EFPC’s annual general meeting was held at the newly inaugurated Drawing Room at Attard and Co’s head office in Marsa, which features a collection of old Maltese newspapers dating back to the early 1900s. The AGM was supported by VisitMalta, eCabs, and Attard and Co.

Founded in 1989 by the Press Club de France, the EFPC promotes dialogue, collaboration, and knowledge exchange among press clubs and international journalism associations, while also defending media freedom.
