As summer approaches, music lovers eagerly anticipate the annual Għaxaq Music Festival, a beloved tradition that celebrates all things beautiful. This two-day event offers high-quality music in a communal setting where attendees can dance freely with loved ones. The festivities kick off on July 27th with a performance by The Wailers, a legendary group that has made an indelible mark on the music industry with their 70s reggae sound. Attendees can expect to hear classic hits like “Buffalo Soldier,” “Three Little Birds,” and “No Woman No Cry” from Bob Marley’s extensive repertoire. Maltese band Sterjotipi will also perform, showcasing their fresh and contemporary music in the Maltese language.
The festival’s grand finale takes place on July 29th, featuring Italian musician Marco Masini and his band. Masini, a two-time San Remo winner, will enchant the audience with his poetic “cantautore” music, including love anthems like “T’Innamorerai,” “Bella Stronza,” and “Vaffanculo.” Maltese musician Kurt Calleja and his band will open the show, encouraging the crowd to sing along and feel the love.
Admission to the concerts is by donation to benefit the Embrace Diversity Organization. VIP tickets can also be purchased on showshappening.com starting May 15th. The Għaxaq Music Festival promises to be a collective cathartic experience that music lovers won’t want to miss.
