Between sky and sea – Valletta art instalment captures Malta’s natural gifts

Between sky and sea - Valletta art instalment captures Malta’s natural gifts

Taking to social media, Chairman for the Valletta Cultural Agency Jason Micallef uploaded snapshots of the latest art installation in the streets of Malta’s capital.

Put up by the same agency, the art instalment used appropriately coloured cloth and other material to capture the movement of waves of the seas surrounding the Maltese islands.

Appropriately titled ‘Between sky and sea’, the art exhibition consists of white, blue and green strips of cloth which mimic the ebb and flow of natural phenomena which bless the shorelines and environmental settings of the islands.

The Chairman of the agency highlighted how whether or not an election is taking place, the work of the agency does not stop as it seeks to continue enriching Malta’s already culturally rich capital city with more impressive works.

Micallef urged the public to visit the art instalment which is located in South Street (Triq in-Nofsinhar), emphasising the atmosphere the instalment created in the heart of Malta.

Malta International Fireworks Festival announced by Tourism Minister

Malta International Fireworks Festival announced by Tourism Minister
Feb 26 2022 Share

Speaking to this newsroom, Tourism Minister Clayton Bartolo unveiled the Malta International Fireworks Festival 2022.

Bartolo highlighted how the announcement of this festival is the means to give back to the Maltese people the country and the spring they truly deserve.

The event will be signalling larger events, more International participation as well as more healthy competition when it comes to events and other activities.

Bartolo highlighted how the event which occurred last year gave back around €30,000 to Malta’s fireworks production community. This, he said, highlights how the practice is a key element to Maltese tradition and culture, and that it should be safeguarded as such.

The event will be spread out over several days and throughout several localities in Malta and Gozo, providing the audience a spectacle of sky-based entertainment, the product of the hard work of Malta’s talented firework workers.

Return to normality as international festivals return this April

Return to normality as international festivals return this April
Feb 26 2022 Share

Speaking to this newsroom, Tourism Minister Clayton Bartolo unveiled the Malta International Fireworks Festival 2022, signalling a possible return to pre-pandemic activities on the island.

Following the Minister’s announcement, comments given by Clayton Bartolo himself seemed to imply that Malta could finally be working its way back to international and large events as was the norm prior to the pandemic.

In the announcement, Bartolo highlighted that such an event would be giving back the Maltese people the spring and the country they deserve. This is coupled with prior announcements by the government that all COVID-19 restrictions will be eased, allowing for mass events to occur.

With Malta’s vaccination rollout touted by authorities as being the reason for this return, the island could very well be seeing a return to normality. What do you think?

Vin Diesel teases ‘Fast’ franchise finale with Paul Walker tribute

Vin Diesel teases ‘Fast’ franchise finale with Paul Walker tribute
Feb 26 2022 Share

The passing of Paul Walker in 2013 was a massive loss for the world, most notably fans of the ‘Fast and the Furious’ fans all around the globe.

With Vin Diesel and Paul Walker once co-leading the franchise as Dominic Toretto and Brian O’Conner, the series is well-known for its highlighting of the familial bond.

And nothing captured it more than Diesel’s latest, and definitely not the first, tribute to Walker as the tenth instalment of the Fast franchise kicks off filming. The franchise will be going out with a bang as the tenth film will be the first part of the end, with the 11th film being shot back-to-back.

Vin Diesel teased earlier this month that filming on Fast 10 will be beginning soon, and he has now shared that the cast and crew will be taking their stunts to London, England. Diesel shared a throwback of him, Walker and Tyrese Gibson to Instagram, revealing the location in the caption.

The snapshot takes fans back ages ago, when the entire cast could walk down movie premiers together as the franchise was still creating the hype it is known for today. At the end of Furious 7, Walker’s character retired from heists to raise his kids with Mia Toretto.

It is unclear whether Brian O’Conner will make any sort of cameo through body doubles and/or technological means. But even if that isn’t the case, the franchise’s cast, and mostly Diesel himself, will make sure he is never forgotten.

The tenth movie could be set for release on 7th April 2023, but it all depends on the pandemic. The Rock is not going to appear in the finale, but many of the familiar faces will be hitching a ride to end the saga.
