Opposition Leader Bernard Grech visited the Soup Kitchen in Valletta ahead of Independence Day, and met the various workers and volunteers who contribute to the initiative.
The Nationalist Party leader urged people to try to understand the suffering of those around us and, if possible, provide refuge for those in need.

Grech drew attention to the news that was reported in December 2022, which showed 91% of those who use the Soup Kitchen are Maltese. The Soup Kitchen provides food for 140 persons everyday, whilst also helping those who do not have a roof over their head or any access to electricity.
The Franciscan Friars behind the Soup Kitchen were awarded the 2023 European CItizen’s Prize, after having been nominated by MEP David Casa.
Bernard Grech was joined by MPs and spokespersons Graziella Galea, Albert Buttigieg and Ivan Bartolo.
