This morning, Bernard Grech said that he has his own preferences for who should succeed him. However, he chose not to reveal any names and expressed faith in the party’s members to choose his successor.
Speaking on NET TV, days after announcing his resignation, Grech said several capable individuals could take on the role, though not all may be ready yet. “There should be no anointed candidate…members have the intelligence to make the right choice” he said.
Grech stepped down ‘for the good of the PN and the country”, saying the PN could no longer function under his leadership.
Grech stated he’ll give his full support to the next leader and urged party members to support whoever is chosen and called for a peaceful, inclusive process.
Grech also warned that Labour would continue working to weaken the PN “It’s up to us whether we want to help the PL or strengthen the party”.
