During his response to the Budget 2025 presentation, Opposition Leader Bernard Grech criticised the Labour government, arguing that it lacks a clear plan and has created record debt without solving key issues.
He stressed that Malta needs a “government of quality,” which the Nationalist Party aims to provide.
Grech emphasised that a PN-led government would be focused on addressing the real needs of the people, creating opportunities in education, and preventing poverty.
He promised a government that is transparent, accountable, and forward-thinking, working for the people rather than political interests. He also highlighted the importance of strengthening state institutions and ensuring a clear separation between government and the state.
Grech criticised the current government for its handling of the economy, governance, and public services, claiming that the Labour administration is “tired” and disconnected from the people’s concerns.
He also warned about the growing national debt, which is projected to exceed €10 billion, and highlighted how interest payments will burden future generations.
The PN, according to Grech, offers hope and a strong direction for Malta, focusing on consultation and action to create a better quality of life. He concluded by reaffirming the party’s readiness to deliver on its promises if given the public’s trust.
