Bernard Grech proposes a halt to electoral campaign to support Ukraine

Bernard Grech proposes a halt to electoral campaign to support Ukraine

During the University political debate, Opposition leader Bernard Grech suggested that political leaders halt the electoral campaign to show respects to Ukraine during the invasion.

The PN leader suggested that on Saturday, the electoral campaigns are halted and instead, politicians from either party demonstrate peacefully and march in favour of the Ukrainian people.

As of yet, Prime Minister Robert Abela has refused to stop the electoral campaign as more events are planned for throughout the weekend.

During the debate, Grech insisted that it is important Malta has a prime minister who adheres to values and does not do this when the public opinion turns against him. This is in reference to the refusal to halt sale of Maltese passports to Russian elites.

The stopping of this scheme was initially refused by Maltese authorities, but they then decided to stop it following public opinion. Meanwhile, activists are protesting in support of Ukraine all over the world, with local demonstrators taking to the doorstep of the Russian Embassy.

Elon Musk welcomes second child named Exa Dark Sideræl Musk

Elon Musk welcomes second child named Exa Dark Sideræl Musk
Mar 10 2022 Share

Elon Musk and Grimes have secretly and officially welcomed their second child into the world, and the child’s name is as weird as their previous kid.

The first baby boy was born back in May 2020, and was called X Æ A-12, which the parents pronounce as X A.I. Archangel or X for short.

The second child born to the billionaire philanthropist and Tesla CEO was named Exa Dark Sideræl Musk, otherwise known as ‘Y’…

The child is apparently named after a supercomputing term exaFLOPS, which is apparently the ability to perform 1 quintillion floating-point operations per second. Don’t ask, we don’t get it either.

The baby name’s ‘Dark’ element is a nod to the unknown, and Grimes said that people fear without knowing that it’s simply the absence of photons. ‘Dark matter is the beautiful mystery of our universe.’

Grimes, whose real name is Claire Elise Boucher, used a surrogate when it came to her second child’s birth, and this allowed the couple to keep their daughter a secret. This comes after the pair seemingly broke up last year.

Musk revealed that she considers Musk her boyfriend, but they live in separate houses and see each other all the time. ‘We just have our own thing going on, and I don’t expect other people to understand it.’

Grimes also revealed that the couple always wanted around three or four children, and with the birth of ‘Y’, it seems they are already halfway there.

Mar 10 2022 Share

Real Madrid have gone against all the odds and completed a dramatic comeback against PSG, to go through to the quarter finals of the UEFA Champions League. Los Blancos had to rely on a second half Karim Benzema hat trick to get their needed result in order to make it through to the quarter finals.

The first half of the game was very close between both teams. Real Madrid had a sense of urgency to find their needed goals, whilst PSG’s aim was to try and control the match, score a goal and keep an important clean sheet. Both teams had various chances to open the scoresheet, but it was PSG that got the first goal of the game in the 39th minute when French superstar Kylian Mbappe managed to score a tidy strike.

The second half was all Real Madrid. They looked hungrier and more motivated to find goals and create chances. PSG looked tired out but were still able to create many chances due to their talent up top with players like Neymar Jr, Messi and Mbappe. Madrid scored their much awaited first goal of the tie in the 61st minute with a clinical finish. The Spanish team and specifically Karim Benzema then went on a crazy 20 minute run where the Frenchman scored another two goals in the 76th and 78th minute to send PSG out of the Champions League.

We’re still in Christmas spirit as a war goes on says Cacopardo

We’re still in Christmas spirit as a war goes on says Cacopardo
Mar 10 2022 Share

Speaking during his initial speech during the University of Malta debate, Carmel Cacopardo, leader of the ADPD party, stated that Malta still feels as if it’s in the Christmas spirit despite a war happening in Ukraine.

Cacopardo said that the proposals made by the two major parties need to be taken with a pinch of salt. He compared the grandiose pledges to Christmas presents which must be carefully analysed before heading to the polls to vote.

Cacopardo also warned the main party leaders of being more careful about what they propose given the international situation. He used the energy and gas supplies example by pointing out that if the invasion spreads further than Ukraine’s borders, the gas provisions will not remain guaranteed.
