
Newly resigned Nationalist Party Leader Bernard Grech received a standing ovation and was thanked for his service and commitment as the election process for a new leader officially begins.
At the start of the meeting, the committee officially took note of Dr Grech’s resignation and unanimously passed a motion to thank him for his five years of service as leader. He will remain in the role until a new leader is elected.

The Executive also agreed to call a meeting of the PN’s General Council, as required by the party’s statute.
During this council meeting, the Electoral, Records and Data Commission will begin the formal process to appoint a new party leader.
The General Council will take place on Sunday 22 June 2025 at the PN Headquarters.
The committee also approved the official rules that will guide how the leadership election is carried out, in line with the party’s statute.
