In his Budget 2025 response, Opposition Leader Bernard Grech presented the Partit Nazzjonalista’s (PN) vision for a different approach to governance.

Grech criticised the current government’s lack of direction, claiming it has become disconnected from the people and reliant on propaganda rather than a sustainable vision.

He argued that the Labour administration’s policies fail to address the real needs of the nation, describing this year’s budget as a reflection of a government that has “lost all control.”

Grech outlined the PN’s commitment to governing for the people rather than for political gain.

He promised a transparent and proactive administration, emphasising that a Nationalist government would prioritise challenges and seize opportunities to build a better future for Malta.

According to Grech, the PN’s vision is for a “quality country” shaped by the hard work and talent of the Maltese people.

Highlighting the PN’s consultative approach, Grech noted the party’s continuous engagement with various organisations and citizens across all sectors.

This groundwork aims to inform a manifesto tailored to the people’s needs, promising Maltese citizens that a PN government would deliver tangible improvements and foster a prosperous, united nation.

NYC School Giving Students Post Election Day Off

NYC School Giving Students Post Election Day Off
Nov 5 2024 Share

In a response to the emotions surrounding the recent election, the elite New York school ‘Ethical Culture Fieldston School’, excused students from classes and homework the day following the election.

This decision is due to a backdrop of tension, with both major parties labelling this election as a crucial turning point for American democracy. The school’s administration recognised the emotional toll the electoral process can take on young people, particularly during such a divided period.

For many parents, this action has sparked discussions about the implications of the election on their children’s mental well-being and the broader societal context.

While some view the school’s approach as an acknowledgment of the stress associated with civic engagement, others are concerned about its potential impact on students’ academic responsibilities and the lessons surrounding accountability.

This move highlights the ongoing dialogue about how schools navigate the trials of politics, mental health, and education in an increasingly polarised environment.

Valletta FC and Fondazzjoni Caritas Malta have joined forces in a new partnership to raise awareness about drug rehabilitation and support those on the road to recovery. Announced by Anthony Gatt, Director of Caritas Malta, and Claudio Grech, President of Valletta FC, this initiative looks to blend the power of football with social impact.

By harnessing the club’s wide fanbase, the collaboration will tackle the stigma around addiction through fundraising events, community outreach, and educational programmes. Gatt highlighted the community’s role in supporting recovery, pointing out three key goals: raising funds for vital free services, promoting Caritas’s rehabilitation efforts in the sporting world, and showcasing football as a positive alternative to substance misuse.

Grech shared the idea behind the theme “Bounce Back,” emphasising the message of hope for those struggling with addiction. The partnership kicks off with the Bounce Back Caritas Cup on Saturday, 9th November, at Dingli Training Grounds, featuring Valletta FC, Gzira FC, and Lija Athletics FC, with all proceeds going to Caritas’s annual marathon. Additional programmes will highlight the role of sports in fostering recovery within Valletta FC’s Academy.
