Social media users highlighted the video’s removal by sharing a screenshot showing a blank screen with the message “this video is not available.” The Olympics and Paris 2024 organizers have not provided any explanation for this omission and have yet to respond to requests for comment.
The Paris 2024 opening ceremony faced severe criticism, with many calling it the “worst ever.” The event, marred by poor weather, featured artistic tableaus inspired by French values like freedom, fraternity, and equality. The cigar jellyfish (Olindias phosphorica), identifiable by its distinctive red cross-like pattern, has been sighted in the waters of Xemxija. This largely transparent species, which appears annually at this time, features around 200 short tentacles. Rescuers from the Civil Protection Department and an ambulance crew provided assistance before he was taken to the hospital in serious condition.
The police are currently investigating the matter.
