Beautification And Maintenance Projects In Ħal Qormi

Parliamentary Secretary for Local Government Alison Zerafa Civelli, together with the Mayor of Ħal Qormi Josef Masini Vento, visited three beautification and maintenance projects in the heart of the locality of Ħal Qormi.

Parliamentary Secretary Alison Zerafa Civelli emphasized the importance of local councils not only implementing new projects but also focusing on maintenance, upkeep, and support for places and zones throughout all localities.

She highlighted that the government periodically launches schemes to support this objective so that local councils have the necessary resources for the maintenance of projects in the heart of their localities.

The local council of Ħal Qormi replaced streetlights with extensive damage caused by natural elements with ornamental streetlights that complement the typical characteristics of a Maltese village along Triq il-Kbira and in Misraħ San Franġisk.

Maintenance and beautification work were also carried out in a small square in the Blat area, undertaken by the employees of the local council of Ħal Qormi themselves.

Ħal Qormi’s mayor Josef Masini Vento highlighted the importance for local councils to have the necessary funds to keep on carrying out projects that are for the benefit of the locality and the residents.

LESA Ordered Not To Fine Maltese Before Election, Jason Azzopardi Claims

Taking to social media, former PN MP Jason Azzopardi claimed that three LESA officials have independently informed him that they are under orders not to fine Maltese residents in May.

This is due to the incoming European Parliament and Local Council elections.

‘It is just to be reasonable’, said Azzopardi. ‘But to be morally corrupt to the extent that you don’t do your job simply because of an upcoming election and then start issuing fines after June for every little thing is unacceptable.’

‘That is also a form of corruption’, concluded Jason.

New Agreement Signed Between Aġenzija Sapport and Active Ageing & Community Care

Aġenzija Sapport and the Active Ageing and Community Care have signed a new agreement which will lead to further support for disabled individuals and to strengthen collaboration between the two entities for the benefit of the elderly and disabled individuals.

This agreement was announced by Minister for Inclusion and Volunteering Julia Farrugia Portelli and Parliamentary Secretary for Active Aging Malcolm Paul Agius Galea.

This agreement, covering a period of three years, will enable the Department for Active Aging and Community Care to provide services to disabled individuals who use Aġenzija Sapport services, which will include services from e nurses and carers, physiotherapy, podiatry services, and occupational therapy. This also includes collaboration to provide assistance to disabled individuals residing in elderly care homes.

In addition, individuals aged 60 and above living in the community and referred to the Department for Active Aging and Community Care may receive assistance to purchase assistive devices produced by the Support Agency.

Disabled individuals under 60 may benefit from services provided by the Department, while disabled individuals living in elderly care homes and under 60 will receive necessary support from Support Agency professionals.

60-Year Old Alejandra Rodriguez Crowned Miss Universe Buenos Aires

Alejandra Rodriguez, a 60-year old lawyer and journalist has shocked the world by being crowned Miss Universe Buenos Aires becoming the first 60-year old to ever win a Miss Universe title.

The lawyer/journalist managed to beat out many other women whose age ranged between 18 to 73.

Following her unprecedented success, Rodriguez has her eyes set on heftier goals, aiming to win the Miss Universe Argentina pageant and getting the opportunity to represent her country at the 73rd global Miss Universe pageant being held in Mexico City, Mexico later this year.

Speaking to media, Rodriguez had this to say; “I am thrilled to be representing this new paradigm in beauty pageants, because we are inaugurating a new stage in which women are not only physical beauty but another set of values,”

In September 2023, the Miss Universe Organization revealed that contestants would no longer be restricted to age limits. While previously there was an age limit of 18 to 28 years old, now any woman over the age of 18 year old can participate.

Alejandra is not the only older woman taking the pageant world by storm with 47-year old Haidy Cruz taking the title of Miss Universe Dominican Republic.
